From a young age in the beautiful state of Texas, I knew I wanted to teach children and that learning could be meaningful and fun.
I began my teaching career in high school where I was given the opportunity to assist teachers in art and reading at the elementary school. After graduating from high school, I attended junior college and earned a certificate in Child Development. I continued my education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Early Childhood Endorsement from East Texas Baptist University in 1996.
I then moved to the Plano area and taught in three districts, Wylie, Richardson, and Allen. While teaching kindergarten, I met my husband of 20 years, David. I knew when I started my official career that I wanted to encourage a classroom environment where teachable moments occurred beyond the set objectives and where students could be successful and comfortable.
I taught in the public school for five years before deciding to stay home with our first child, Seth. We now have three extremely active boys Seth (17), Luke (15) and Noah (13). I was able to continue teaching and connecting with children through the AWANA program at church. Recently, I began to work my way back into the classroom. I taught a 4 year old class at GEM Express Preschool for three years. I was able to create an atmosphere where children had the freedom to learn through a variety of hands on activities and where questions were valued and encouraged.
Most evenings and weekends you can find all of us on a soccer field around the Dallas area or traveling the southern states for soccer tournaments.
